The Sunshine Coast
Nerja lies to the east of the Costa del Sol in the very South of Spain. Here miles of beaches are surrounded by the spectacular Almijara Mountains and the climate is one of the most equable in Europe - rarely too hot in summer and mild throughout the winter. Situated about 60 kilometres from Malaga airport, the town is a whole world away from 'high rise' apartment blocks and featureless hotels. Originally a fishing village, Nerja has kept its genuine Spanish charm with twisting narrow streets and white buildings. The focal point is the Balcon de Europa - a promenade jutting out into the Mediterranean, giving panoramic views of the coastline to the east and west. There are numerous fascinating small shops and restaurants and a weekly street market is held every Tuesday throughout the year.

Nerja has a total of 6 beaches within its boundary, the biggest of which and the nearest to the properties, being Burriana to the east of the town. Beach cafes, sun beds and umbrellas and all the usual water sports can be found here.

Golf -there are three golf courses within easy reach.They are well run and friendly with good value green fees and are ideal for the less experienced golfer wanting to take a warm winter golfing break, but who may be overawed by the challenging courses at the other end of the Costa around Sotogrande.

Tennis - the local tennis club is situated at the entrance to El Capistrano Village within walking distance of 2 of our properties. Courts and lessons from the Pro can be booked in advance and there is a pleasant cafe and bar overlooking the courts.

Other sports - walking (beach and mountain), off-road biking and cycling, horseriding, snorkeling and diving are all readily available locally. Squash courts, a gym and health club are 10 minutes walk away. For winter swimming a brand new indoor swimming pool has been built close by.

Circular Bus
There is a Circular Bus Route linking the town and beach which passes close to all the properties.
Nerja is also ideal for touring. Granada with its famous Alhambra Palace is a spectacular 2 hours drive into the mountains; the tiny Moorish village of Frigilana is 7 km inland and Gibraltar is an easy day excursion. Nerja's own limestone caves are just 5 minutes by car. In the winter, skiing is just 2 hours away at Sol y Nieve. In fact Nerja is one of the few places in the world where you can ski in the morning and sunbathe by the Mediterranean in the afternoon!!

Getting to Nerja
The nearest airport is Malaga, which is a 45 minute drive from all of our properties. This airport is well served and we have tried to list all of the airlines (including many 'low cost' carriers) we know of below. To book with any of these airlines just follow the link to their homepage. There is also a good bus service from the airport via Malaga for only 4 euros! Some budget airlines now fly to Granada which is approximately 90 minutes drive.

British Airways- twice daily flights from London's Heathrow airport.
Flybe - excellent choice of regional departures to Malaga. Flying from, amonst others, Exeter and Southampton.
Monach - long-established low cost airline from Gatwick and Luton.
easyjet - infamous low cost airline from Gatwick, Luton, Stansted, Bristol, East Midlands, Liverpool, Newcastle and Belfast.
Ryanair - once absent from Malaga, this low cost giant now offers around 20 daily departures.
Thomson Flights - good choice of low cost UK regional departures. From Bournemouth, Dublin, Shannon, Sheffield and more.
Avro UK - seat only tour operator.

Car Hire
It is possible to reach all the properties without the use of a car, but to really enjoy this beautiful area of southern Spain, we recommend you hire a vehicle from Malaga airport. We are able to arrange very competitive rates through a reputable English rental company. All prices include fully comprehensive insurance, an additional driver, unlimited mileage and all taxes. Taxis
Taxi bookings can also be arranged to meet you at Malaga Airport. Single Fare: £75.00, Return Fare: £150.00 for up to 4 people. For larger numbers minibus transfer is possible at a cost of approximately 100 euros each way.
